The Division of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Florida Shands Children's Hospital offers one of the most comprehensive neurology programs for children and parents, from performing epilepsy surgery, to finding causes of and treatments for seizures, sleep, and neuromuscular disorders, to helping children with school problems. With recognized experts in six neurological sub-specialties including epilepsy, sleep disorders, learning and language problems, muscular dystrophy, neuromuscular disorders, and genetic disorders, Shands Pediatric Neurology Children's Center physicians, nurses and staff provide compassionate care to more than 5,000 children each year.
Consistently ranked as one of the top neurology program in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, Associate Professor and Division Chief Paul R. Carney, M.D., believes the Program's role is to advance pediatric medicine through the translation of novel research into state-of-the-art patient care and training of young physicians and scientists, resulting in a synergistic bench-to-bedside approach to medicine.
